‘I like to think I’m rock ’n’ roll but I’m not. I’ve never been to a festival and I think I look a bit try-hard. Do I look like a tranny?’ Sheridan Smith, actress and on-off beau of James Corden is ever-so excitable. ‘I am a V Festival virgin. I’ve just got here and they’ve already put false eyelashes on me and quiffed my hair like Sarah Harding,’ she says. She’s been lured in to a false sense of security of what festivals are like, thanks to such pampering. Not that it’d bother her if she was with the great unwashed. ‘I’m a chav, so I don’t give a sh*t about sh*tting in the portaloos. And we went camping when I was a kid – we could never afford anything else. Cleethorpes every year. My Dad gave me food poisoning when he tried to cook me fish on a barbecue. I’ve never eaten fish since. Then I almost drowned, so I can’t swim either. Not very happy memories are they?’ Has she ever had romantic nights under canvas with Mr Corden? ‘Never. I can tell you about food poisoning, but not about romance. I’m rubbish, that’s sh*t isn’t it?’
